Recently there have been a lot of new developments in Second Life footwear. From the use of sculptie prims to create smoother curves to the use of HUDs to control color, sound, and movement, there’s been a shoe revolution. We’ve been watching that revolution closely, and we’ve noticed three relatively new designers leading the charge.
Tesla Miles is using the innovative sculptie prims to create classically styled shoes with graceful heels. Melanie Zhao reigns as the new stiletto queen with her girly styles and user-friendly HUDs. And Onyx Leshelle has emerged as a Jill-of-all-trades with her line of sculptie shoes and boots. We’ve also seen innovations from already established cobblers such as Fallingwater Cellardoor, Jackal Ennui, Damen Gorilla, and Camilla Yosuke.
Daphne usually prefers to buy shoes in Second Life like those she’d wear in real life. She likes traditional shoes with a twist, and lately has been wearing a lot of sculpted heels. At Tesla Miles’ store, Tesla, Daphne has fallen for the Vixen shoes, which will become a staple in her wardrobe. She also likes the heels on the Gwyneth.
I, on the other hand, like to buy shoes in Second Life that I can’t wear in real life, such as very high heels! I love smooth lines and graceful curves, and I’m a sucker for rounded toes. So, I completely agree with Daphne on Tesla’s Vixen shoe gaining must-have status, though I also love the Gwyneth with it’s leather bow for more traditional looks.
If you’re looking for a simple shorter boot to wear with everything, check out the Analise with a cute little zipper pull and a touchable suede texture. If you want a great spectator heel, be sure to check out the Madonna, which comes in black and white, as well as a variety of pastel colors for your eighties retro outfits. Finally, I’m in love with the Diva shoe — not quite a boot, not quite a shoe, it looks great with jeans or skirts.
While she has yet to make a sculptie shoe, Melanie Zhao of Zhao has gained a loyal following due to her feminine spike heels. Daphne loves Melanie’s stiletto styles with pointy toes. She’s especially fond of the strappy Chelle, and she couldn’t resist the little “Z” charm on the Sadie.
As a boot collector, Daphne was very excited when Melanie released the Xinful boot yesterday. This boot is a riding boot with a stiletto heel, buckles, great stitching, and an adorable logo stamp on the back of the heel. Like most of Melanie’s shoes, you can control the sound and bling on this sexy boot.
I’m crazy about Zhao’s Miabella shoes! Named after Imagen Divine’s Miabella Foxley, these shoes are very feminine with ribbons and jewels. With a click of Zhao’s new user-friendly HUD, you can control the sound and bling, as well as change the color of the ribbons on this dressy shoe.
Onyx Leshelle of Maitreya has just added a line of sculptie shoes and boots to her repetoire, proving what an incredibly versatile designer she is. Daphne of course gravitated straight to the boot displays where she found the suede Bloom and Dune boots. I really liked the Frisky and Sassy shoes, since I love wedge heels. Maitreya has a great selection of casual sculptie shoes that look great with Onyx’s clothing!
We can’t neglect what established shoe makers are doing with sculpties. Fallingwater Cellardoor of Shiny Things has come out with the comfy boot. This is a flat scrunchy boot that I love to wear with a straight mini skirt and chunky sweater, such as Veschi’s Cozily outfit. They also look great with jeans.
Daphne bought a pair of Daph on Damen Gorilla of Adam n’ Eve’s Arme boots. I couldn’t believe it when I saw Daphne buy these boots in Cashmere Rose. Yes, Daphne has pink boots. Gorgeous, detailed, fun pink boots! Being a tad more practical, I had to get Jackal Ennui of Lassitude & Ennui’s Chloe and Estampie flats. Like Tesla’s Vixen shoes, the Chloe ballet flats are going to become go-to shoes for many Second Life residents. The more whimsical flat wearers will like the medieval Estampie. These velvety little shoes are made for men and women and look amazing with Miriel Enfield of Miriel’s medieval dresses.
Last, but certainly not least, are Camilla Yosuke of Insolence’s Elise heels. We loved these beautiful strappy stilettos for their amazing detail, such as the visible, yet delicate stitching and the tiny buckles. While they’re only Camilla’s fourth shoe, she definitely nailed them!
